Bar Aurora & Boteco Ferraz: Karaoke Breathalyzer

I Believe in Advertising | ONLY SELECTED ADVERTISING | Advertising Blog & Community 22 May 2012, 10:13 pm CEST

Bar Aurora & Boteco Ferraz present “Karaoke Breathalyzer”. To increase awareness about drunk driving, we created the world’s first microphone breathalyzer and invited people to sing karaoke. Once up on stage, with their guard down, we took them by surprise. At the end of each song, we didn’t show their score, we showed their alcohol blood level. Because let’s face it, when you feel you are ok to sing, you are probably not ok to drive.

Pedigree Dentastix: No bite, no info

I Believe in Advertising | ONLY SELECTED ADVERTISING | Advertising Blog & Community 22 May 2012, 10:09 pm CEST

Dogs use their mouths as humans use their hands. When they bite into something, they do it because they want to understand more about the object: taste, texture, temperature, etc. The bite represents 20% of a dog’s senses. This means that if his teeth aren’t healthy he can’t bite it. 20% of his world is gone. That’s why the dog can’t understand what some objects really are. With Dentastix you can keep his teeth healthy and his world complete.

PRADA presents “A THERAPY”

Adverblog 22 May 2012, 6:11 pm CEST

prada_therapy03

Luxury brand Prada released today a short movie directed by Roman Polanski, starring Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley. The film had its premiere this week during the Cannes Film Festival, right before the official screening of Polanski’s film Tess.

Beautiful photography and a rather unexpected story. I liked the video until the final, totally unnecessary, tag line showed up.

Got (Real) Milk?

Adverblog 22 May 2012, 4:43 pm CEST

imitation_milk

Goodby, Silverstein and Partners are back with a new “Got Milk?” campaign called ‘Science of Imitation Milk’. Well, actually more than a campaign to promote milk, it’s a campaign against imitation milk such as almond, soy and coconut milk, which is as interesting as controversial. It consists of two TVC and an interactive website where they educate the public about the ingredients of “imitation milk”. The art direction of the project is superb, the TVC are fun, and the website is OK. For sure I think we could spend a really long time debating the disparaging contents of the campaign itself, but I don’t think this is the place to have such conversation, right?

IBM: Sand

I Believe in Advertising | ONLY SELECTED ADVERTISING | Advertising Blog & Community 22 May 2012, 3:24 pm CEST

An IBM invitation that involved a lot of sand. IBM was finding it increasingly difficult getting people to attend its seminars and conventions. Fewer and fewer wanted to travel and spend time out of office or home. So getting them to come to a new office opening seemed a task that had disaster written all over it. That was until Ogilvy came up with an invite with a difference. What invitees got was a large black box that contained a pouch of sand. Yes sand. The TA was instructed to pour the sand onto the enclosed plain white card and then read the message that appeared on it. How it worked was – the sand when poured and dusted off, got stuck to invisible gum on the white card, and revealed a message – “IBM Opens in Qatar”. An interactive device relevant to the desert city of Qatar. The task was very successful and had high recall. 340 invites were mailed out and 125 respondents attended. A 40% response rate. The entire exercise is now going to be replicated in other Middle Eastern markets.

Ibland behövs bara ett ord

Please copy me 22 May 2012, 1:34 pm CEST

Budweiser: Goal In The Dark

I Believe in Advertising | ONLY SELECTED ADVERTISING | Advertising Blog & Community 22 May 2012, 10:55 am CEST

Men have 2 big passions: football/soccer & nightlife. They dont seem to get along sometimes. For that reason, we decided to join them and play a football/soccer match on a dance floor. We produced the first football/soccer match placed on the dance floor. And to make that possible, we created special suits that glow in the dark. Besides the football field, the (net) goal, the ball and the two referee cards also glow. A DJ was setting the music, the mood, while people enjoyed the party, drinking cool Budweiser. Finally, football came into nightlife.

Pass The Bottle: Wines With Friends

adland.tv 22 May 2012, 12:27 am CEST

Organic and Constellation Wine bring you a new app, designed to pair your friends with wine, rather than food or some elitist reason.

Pass the Bottle aims to make use of the millennial generation's social media pastime and learn something about wine by allowing them to talk about their favorite subject: themselves.

The app acts as a "social sommelier," by pairing your friends' personalities with one of ten appropriate wines on offer. If your wine knowledge doesn't go beyond "red" and "white," you'll start thinking about wine differently after you use the app. You might even win two Lollapalooza tickets or some discounts, too.

And really, what makes more sense as a way to describe a wine's personality? "It's sweet, playful and spontaneous," or "A precocious wine with a hint of tobacco. Has early charms. Later it evolves into rich tobacco."

And while oenophiles who like the taste of tannin and tobacco will see this as akin to choosing an architect based on one's favorite Seinfeld episode, they aren't the demographic this time. And considering the mid-shelf price points, this isn't their wine, either.

It is, however, the right idea for the right demographic. Now pass me the bottle. Preferably a Syrah.
